The star note is simply a replacement note. It replaces one destroyed at the mint. The 1963 notes are crisp new and 40+ years old.
With a little work you could probably get some 2005 star notes at a bank, wait 40 years, and Ebay them yourself. Of course with inflation, you would have to get 5 times face to make up for the lost buying power. glta |

I got a crisp 1950A $100 star note a few weeks ago. Took it to my local coin shop and got $125.00 for it.

I would have ebayed the 1950 star note 100.00 bill ..catalog is 200.00+ crisp.

I wouldn't place all of my portfolio in star bills hoping for the big pay off. Any Federal Reserve Note printed today will have the same (or a touch more) value in 30 years, provied you keep it absolutely untouched by human hands.
